What slicer to use for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber)
None of the slicers in SimplyPrint's cloud has a ready-made profile for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber), but it takes standard G-code: start from a similar printer's profile and set the bed size, height and nozzle to match.
We only list slicers you can use in the SimplyPrint cloud, so there may be others for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber).
Cloud-Based Slicer for Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber)
All supported slicers - directly in your browser with SimplyPrint's online cloud slicer. No installation required. Slice your Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber) models from any device, anywhere in the world!
Automatic Profile Updates: Profiles are automatically checked and fetched from the slicer GitHub repositories every day, as well as from our own open-source community-driven slicer profile database. This ensures you always have access to the latest profiles.
Note: Other slicers, such as Simplify3D, ideaMaker, SuperSlicer and KISSlicer, aren't in our cloud, so we don't track their profiles. They may still work well with your Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber): check the slicer's own documentation or forums for a profile. You can also contribute profiles to our open-source slicer profile database on GitHub.
The app for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber)
Sovol doesn't make an app for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber). SimplyPrint works as its app: on your phone and in any browser, with a slicer in the cloud.
There's no plate swapper or auto-ejection kit for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber) in SimplyPrint yet, but AutoPrint can still keep it printing: once the plate is clear, it starts the next job from your queue.
Enclosed printers push their prints out
The Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber)'s bed only moves up and down inside its enclosure, so instead of swapping plates, a push-off routine lets the toolhead push the cooled print off the plate and out through its front door, which has to be open while it runs. Some printers won't print with the door open (the Prusa CORE One has a door sensor), so check yours first.
Ways to automate it
Push prints off with the toolheadOn a CoreXY printer, a G-code routine can push the cooled print off the front of the plate before the next job starts.
Your own ejection G-codeWrite the routine that clears your plate, and AutoPrint runs it after every print.

What filament can the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber) print?
Filament compatibility for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber): the materials it can handle, judged from its hotend, bed, chamber and enclosure.
Filament
Suitability
Notes
PLA
Great
The easiest filament to print. Works on almost any printer; a heated bed helps adhesion but is not required.
PETG
Great
Comfortably in range (PETG likes a ~230-250C hotend and a ~70-85C bed).
TPU & flexibles
Great
The direct-drive extruder feeds flexible filament well. Print slowly for clean results.
ABS & ASA
Great
Enclosed, with a hot enough hotend and bed: ABS and ASA print well.
Nylon (PA)
Good
Doable with care - dry the filament thoroughly, and an enclosure helps a lot.
Polycarbonate (PC)
Good
In range for PC. Dry the filament, print slowly, and use an enclosure for the best results.
Carbon-fiber & glass-filled
With care
Possible if you fit a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle - the abrasive fibers quickly wear a stock brass nozzle.
Tip: this is a general guide from the printer's specs - always check your filament's recommended settings. With SimplyPrint you can save a profile for each spool and track exactly what filament you have in stock.
Best filament for the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber)
Filaments the Sovol SV08 Max (Heat Chamber) prints well, Sovol's own first, then the best known.
Tested the SV08 Max with the enclosure kit. Finds it fast for its size, with quick eddy-current leveling and good results on TPU and ASA, but loud, with software quirks and a Z-offset that took several failed prints to dial in. Calls it an enthusiast machine that is not for beginners.
“It’s a niche machine, but it fills that niche extremely well.”
Frankly Built · May 14, 2026
An extended review of the open-frame SV08 Max (about $1,099). Likes it for statues and big props and calls it the best 500 mm printer on the market. Notes a loud idle fan, very long prints, and that it feels a generation behind Bambu or Prusa. Recommends remote monitoring.
Aurora Tech · June 24, 2025
Sovol sent the unit and sponsored the video (disclosed), tested without the enclosure. Fastest large printer he has tested, with a rigid self-leveling gantry and quick eddy-current leveling. Cons: flow ratio needed manual calibration, one-piece bed, a small 8 GB eMMC, loud even idle.

Sovol is a Chinese 3D printer maker founded in 2018 that sells low-cost printers and publishes their designs. Its SV08 is a lower-cost derivative of the open-source Voron 2.4, released with its structure, electronics and firmware files, and most current models run Klipper. Its buyers are mainly hobbyists who like to tinker.
Sovol is among the most open brands: its printers are standard Klipper machines on open designs, with published files and no cloud. The trade-off is less hand-holding: Tom's Hardware found its larger printer needs experience to tune.
Firmware and custom firmware ●●●●●
Sovol publishes firmware source on GitHub; for the SV08 under GPL-3.0 together with structure files and motherboard designs. Newer repositories, such as the SV08 Max, carry no licence file. Sovol says damage caused by modified or third-party firmware voids its one-year warranty and that it does not help with modifying the source.
[1][2][3]
Local control and integrations ●●●●●
The SV08 family runs Klipper with the Mainsail interface on the local network, so other software can use Moonraker's documented API. Tom's Hardware drove the SV08 from Mainsail, listed 'doesn't require the cloud', and found 'vanilla Klipper' on the SV08 Max. We found no Sovol cloud service or account requirement.
[5][4][1][11]
Third-party filament, slicers and parts ●●●●●
Built on open designs and Klipper, so any filament can be used; Sovol supplies OrcaSlicer profiles, and Tom's Hardware notes the SV08 also works with Cura or PrusaSlicer using Voron settings and takes Bambu-style nozzles. Hotends and extruders are Sovol parts, sold in its store.
[6][1][7]
Repairs and spare parts ●●●●●
Sovol's store sells parts per model (hotends, extruders, fans, eMMC modules, heated beds), and the SV08's full CAD and motherboard files are public, so parts can be identified or made.
[7][1]
Community and documentation ●●●●●
Strong overlap with the Voron community, which Sovol supports with a donation programme, public GitHub repositories and a wiki; Sovol does not give technical help for modifying the source.
[8][1][9]
Pros
Standard Klipper with Mainsail on the local network, no account or cloud.
SV08 structure, electronics and firmware files are published.
Spare parts sold per model, and open designs make parts easy to source.
Low prices for Voron-style machines.
Cons
Damage caused by modified or third-party firmware voids the one-year warranty.
Sovol does not help with modifying its source code.
Tom's Hardware found the SV08's default slicer profiles very conservative and says the SV08 Max needs an experienced hand to tune.
Newer repositories (SV08 Max, Zero) have no licence file.
Track record
July 2026: Sovol launched the M1D, an open-source IDEX printer with a tool changer, on Kickstarter, where it passed $2.8 million in pledges.
[10]
March 2024: Sovol released the SV08, a lower-cost derivative of the Voron 2.4, and published its structure, hardware and firmware files on GitHub under GPL-3.0. Sovol says it set up a donation programme with the Voron Design team.
