Why use Cura online?

Cura is one of the most widely used 3D printing slicers in the world. Developed as open source and maintained by UltiMaker, it has introduced millions of people to 3D printing - for years it was the slicer that came recommended with budget printers like the Creality Ender 3, and its huge community means profiles, guides and tutorials exist for practically every printer ever made.

Desktop Cura only runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, though. With SimplyPrint's cloud implementation, the same CuraEngine now runs on our servers - so you can slice with Cura on Chromebooks, tablets, smartphones and low-spec laptops just as easily as on a workstation. No download, no install, no updates to manage.

The complete Cura setting catalog - 700+ settings in the cloud

We use the unmodified official CuraEngine, and our web interface exposes its full setting catalog: over 700 Cura settings, under the same names and in the same logical groups you know from desktop Cura - including signature Cura features like tree supports, adaptive layer height and spiralize outer contour (vase mode).

Walls, top/bottom, infill, material, speed, travel, cooling, supports, adhesion, experimental - it's all there. Pick your depth with the Basic, Simple, Advanced and Expert modes, search any setting by name, tweak it, and save your tuned values as cloud profiles that follow you on every device.

Desktop Cura doesn't run on ChromeOS, iPadOS, Android or iOS - UltiMaker has said ChromeOS support isn't planned, leaving Chromebook users to wrestle with Linux containers and AppImage workarounds. Our cloud version of Cura makes all of that unnecessary: the full engine runs in any modern web browser, on any device.

Why this matters for Cura users:

  • Chromebooks (schools & classrooms): classroom Chromebooks can't install desktop Cura, but they can run our cloud Cura in Chrome. Perfect for school 3D printing labs where Cura's beginner-friendly reputation made it the go-to slicer.
  • iPads & Android tablets: design on the couch, slice and send to your printer without ever touching a desktop. The full interface is touch-friendly and adapts to smaller screens.
  • Phones (iPhone & Android): need to re-slice and re-send a print from across the room? Open Safari or Chrome and you have full Cura.

It's the real, unmodified CuraEngine - the open-source slicing engine behind UltiMaker Cura. We run the official engine on our cloud servers, which means you get the same slicing results as the desktop version. The only difference is where it runs (our servers instead of your computer) and the interface: we have made our own web-based slicer interface for not just Cura, but also PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, BambuStudio, ElegooSlicer & CrealityPrint.
We currently use the CuraEngine from Cura version 5.13.0, released on May 28, 2026. We regularly update to the latest stable versions, so you get the newest slicing improvements that UltiMaker and the Cura community ship - without ever downloading an update yourself.
Cura online is included with your SimplyPrint account. We offer a free tier with slicing capabilities, as well as premium plans with additional features like print farm management. The slicer itself is available at all plan levels.
UltiMaker offers a browser-based Cura as part of their Digital Factory platform, built around UltiMaker's own printer ecosystem. SimplyPrint's cloud Cura is brand-agnostic: use the Cura engine with your Ender 3, Elegoo, Anycubic, UltiMaker or almost any other FDM printer - and it's part of a complete platform where Cura sits side by side with PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, BambuStudio, ElegooSlicer & CrealityPrint in one unified interface, together with a print queue, cloud file storage, filament management and remote printer control.
Absolutely - and without any of the usual workarounds. UltiMaker doesn't offer desktop Cura for ChromeOS, so Chromebook users normally have to fight with Linux containers and AppImage files. With our cloud Cura, none of that is needed: all the heavy processing happens on our servers, so your Chromebook just needs a web browser. Open Chrome and start slicing.
Yes! Because the slicing happens on our servers, you can use Cura on any device with a web browser - iPhone, Android phone, iPad or any tablet. There's no Cura app for Android or iOS, but with the cloud version you don't need one: the interface adapts to smaller screens while keeping all functionality accessible.
Cura has always been a brand-agnostic slicer, and our cloud version keeps that spirit: use it with nearly any FDM printer - Creality Ender and K series, Elegoo, Anycubic, Prusa, UltiMaker and many more. When you pick your printer model in SimplyPrint, we automatically map its bed size, nozzle and G-code flavor to the engine. As SimplyPrint is an FDM platform, resin printers are not supported.
Those are rebranded forks of older Cura versions that printer manufacturers shipped with their machines - often stuck on Cura 4.x with no updates. Our cloud slicer runs the current official CuraEngine (version 5.13.0), so you get years of slicing improvements over those bundled forks, while everything still feels familiar: same setting names, same slicing behavior, just newer and in your browser.
Upload STL, 3MF or OBJ models - the same formats as everywhere else in our cloud slicer. You prepare your plate in our web interface, and the Cura engine slices it into printer-ready G-code.
Not with the Cura engine yet - our Cura implementation currently slices single-material prints. If you want multi-color or multi-material slicing (for example for a Bambu Lab AMS or Creality CFS), simply switch to the OrcaSlicer, BambuStudio, ElegooSlicer or CrealityPrint engine - it's one click, and you stay in the exact same interface.
Yes - the cloud slicer exposes Cura's full setting catalog (700+ settings) under the same names you know from desktop Cura: wall line count, infill density, support structure, adhesion type, and everything in between. If you've dialed in values on desktop, you can apply the same numbers here and save them as profiles in your SimplyPrint account, where they sync across all your devices.
Yes! The entire SimplyPrint platform, including the slicer, has a built-in dark mode. Toggle it once and every page - slicer included - follows along, on every device you use.
Cura and CuraEngine are open source (maintained by UltiMaker at github.com/Ultimaker/CuraEngine), and we're committed to respecting that. We use the unmodified open-source engine and comply fully with its license, and we share our own slicer-building process open source at github.com/SimplyPrint/slicer-builds.
