What works with SimplyPrint
Connected through Klipper (Moonraker), SimplyPrint supports most of what it offers on the LulzBot Mini 3: the camera and AI failure detection, remote printing, skipping objects, temperature and movement control and AutoPrint. Not yet in SimplyPrint through Klipper (Moonraker): download the file before the print starts.

What slicer to use for the LulzBot Mini 3
None of the slicers in SimplyPrint's cloud has a ready-made profile for the LulzBot Mini 3, but it takes standard G-code: start from a similar printer's profile and set the bed size, height and nozzle to match.
We only list slicers you can use in the SimplyPrint cloud, so there may be others for the LulzBot Mini 3.
Cloud-Based Slicer for LulzBot Mini 3
All supported slicers - directly in your browser with SimplyPrint's online cloud slicer. No installation required. Slice your LulzBot Mini 3 models from any device, anywhere in the world!
Automatic Profile Updates: Profiles are automatically checked and fetched from the slicer GitHub repositories every day, as well as from our own open-source community-driven slicer profile database. This ensures you always have access to the latest profiles.
Note: Other slicers, such as Simplify3D, ideaMaker, SuperSlicer and KISSlicer, aren't in our cloud, so we don't track their profiles. They may still work well with your LulzBot Mini 3: check the slicer's own documentation or forums for a profile. You can also contribute profiles to our open-source slicer profile database on GitHub.
The app for the LulzBot Mini 3
SimplyPrint works as the LulzBot Mini 3's app: on your phone and in any browser, with a slicer in the cloud.
There's no plate swapper or auto-ejection kit for the LulzBot Mini 3 in SimplyPrint yet, but AutoPrint can still keep it printing: once the plate is clear, it starts the next job from your queue.
Ways to automate it
Your own ejection G-codeWrite the routine that clears your plate, and AutoPrint runs it after every print.

What filament can the LulzBot Mini 3 print?
Filament compatibility for the LulzBot Mini 3: the materials it can handle, judged from its hotend, bed, chamber and enclosure.
Filament
Suitability
Notes
PLA
Great
The easiest filament to print. Works on almost any printer; a heated bed helps adhesion but is not required.
PETG
Great
Comfortably in range (PETG likes a ~230-250C hotend and a ~70-85C bed).
TPU & flexibles
Great
The direct-drive extruder feeds flexible filament well. Print slowly for clean results.
ABS & ASA
With care
The bed is hot enough, but ABS and ASA warp without an enclosure, which is strongly recommended for clean prints.
Nylon (PA)
With care
Possible with care - an enclosure and very dry filament are essential.
Polycarbonate (PC)
With care
On the edge - PC really wants an enclosed, hot chamber to avoid warping.
Carbon-fiber & glass-filled
With care
Possible if you fit a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle - the abrasive fibers quickly wear a stock brass nozzle.
Tip: this is a general guide from the printer's specs - always check your filament's recommended settings. With SimplyPrint you can save a profile for each spool and track exactly what filament you have in stock.

LulzBot is an American maker of open-source hardware 3D printers. The brand, which dates itself to 2011, was built up by Aleph Objects of Loveland, Colorado; after near-closure in 2019 it was bought by FAME 3D, which runs it from Fargo, North Dakota. LulzBot publishes its printer CAD, firmware and Cura LulzBot Edition slicer, and sells the TAZ and Mini printers to schools, labs and businesses that want a machine they can repair for years.

Open-source hardware and firmware, published CAD, a deep parts catalogue and no cloud. The cost is a higher price than mass-market printers.
Firmware and custom firmware ●●●●●
LulzBot publishes its Klipper, Moonraker, Mainsail and Marlin forks under the GPL-3.0 on GitHub, updated through 2026, and the Mini 3 runs Klipper. The Free Software Foundation lists the LulzBot Mini and TAZ 6 as Respects Your Freedom certified.
[7][2][13]
Local control and integrations ●●●●●
The Mini 3 runs Klipper with Mainsail in any browser and prints over Wi-Fi or from a USB drive. LulzBot maintains its own Moonraker and Mainsail forks on GitHub, Moonraker's API is documented, and LulzBot offers no printer cloud or account.
[2][18][19]
Third-party filament, slicers and parts ●●●●●
Tool heads for 1.75 and 2.85 mm filament, any filament brand, the open-source Cura LulzBot Edition (LGPL/AGPL on GitHub) and OrcaSlicer profiles for older models. Tool heads are LulzBot designs, but their sources are published too.
[3][8][17][9]
Repairs and spare parts ●●●●●
LulzBot's shop lists about 155 spare parts, including parts for the TAZ 6 and Mini 1, and the CAD for the TAZ 8 and Mini 3 (GPL-3.0) is published on GitLab.
[5][10][11]
Data and privacy ●●●●●
No account is needed to print. LulzBot's privacy notice covers only its website and says personal data is not sold or rented.
[4]
Community and documentation ●●●●●
An official forum with posts every week, public GitHub and GitLab repositories and published assembly and support documents; the community is active but small.
[12][7][9]
Pros
Open-source hardware and firmware, with CAD files published.
Spare parts still sold for printers from 2016 and earlier.
Runs locally (Klipper and Mainsail on the Mini 3), with no cloud account.
Made in the USA, with its own open-source Cura LulzBot Edition slicer.
Cons
Expensive: the TAZ 8 listed at $5,395 and the Mini 3 at $1,695 in October 2026.
The company nearly closed in 2019, laying off about 80% of staff before FAME 3D bought it.
Current models are not in OrcaSlicer's built-in list; the main slicer is LulzBot's own Cura edition.
Track record
March 2025: LulzBot introduced the TAZ 8, a large printer with swappable Galaxy Series tool heads.
[3]
July 2024: LulzBot introduced the Mini 3, running Klipper with the Mainsail web interface and Wi-Fi; its CAD is published on GitLab under the GPL-3.0.
[2][11]
November 2019: Aleph Objects sold its assets, including the LulzBot brand, to Fargo Additive Manufacturing Equipment 3D (FAME 3D) of Fargo, North Dakota.
[15]
October 2019: Aleph Objects laid off about 80% of its workforce in a cash-flow crunch while looking for new owners; it said it would keep making and servicing LulzBot printers and honour all warranties.
