The printer has no USB port a computer can connect to
No known way to connect it to SimplyPrint
Unfortunately, the Flashforge Adventurer 4 is currently not, to our knowledge, compatible with OctoPrint, Mainsail, Fluidd, or SimplyPrint. For the best 3D printing experience, consider other 3D printers that are compatible with these softwares.
How we determine compatibility
We consider a printer compatible if it works with one or more of the following:
SimplyPrint custom integration for this specific model
OctoPrint support (requires the printer to support serial printing)
Klipper support (printer can run Klipper, either by flashing compatible firmware or using an external controller/pad)
OctoPrint compatibility is primarily based on whether the printer supports serial communication. If serial printing is not supported, we mark OctoPrint as not compatible.
Note: Some printers have third-party OctoPrint plugins that enable unofficial/custom connections. We don’t maintain a list of these plugins, so they are not reflected in our compatibility data.
We only list slicers you can use in the SimplyPrint cloud, so there may be others for the Flashforge Adventurer 4.
Cloud-Based Slicer for Flashforge Adventurer 4: Use Cura Online
Use Cura and other slicers - directly in your browser with SimplyPrint's online cloud slicer. No installation required. Slice your Flashforge Adventurer 4 models from any device, anywhere in the world!
Automatic Profile Updates: Profiles are automatically checked and fetched from the slicer GitHub repositories every day, as well as from our own open-source community-driven slicer profile database. This ensures you always have access to the latest profiles.
Note: Other slicers, such as Simplify3D, ideaMaker, SuperSlicer and KISSlicer, aren't in our cloud, so we don't track their profiles. They may still work well with your Flashforge Adventurer 4: check the slicer's own documentation or forums for a profile. You can also contribute profiles to our open-source slicer profile database on GitHub.

What filament can the Flashforge Adventurer 4 print?
Filament compatibility for the Flashforge Adventurer 4: the materials it can handle, judged from its hotend, bed, chamber and enclosure.
Filament
Suitability
Notes
PLA
Great
The easiest filament to print. Works on almost any printer; a heated bed helps adhesion but is not required.
PETG
Great
Comfortably in range (PETG likes a ~230-250C hotend and a ~70-85C bed).
TPU & flexibles
Great
The direct-drive extruder feeds flexible filament well. Print slowly for clean results.
ABS & ASA
Great
Enclosed, with a hot enough hotend and bed: ABS and ASA print well.
Nylon (PA)
Good
Doable with care - dry the filament thoroughly, and an enclosure helps a lot.
Polycarbonate (PC)
Not ideal
Not recommended - PC needs very high hotend temps and an enclosed chamber.
Carbon-fiber & glass-filled
With care
Possible if you fit a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle - the abrasive fibers quickly wear a stock brass nozzle.
Tip: this is a general guide from the printer's specs - always check your filament's recommended settings. With SimplyPrint you can save a profile for each spool and track exactly what filament you have in stock.

Flashforge (Zhejiang Flashforge 3D Technology) is a Chinese 3D printer maker founded in 2011. It sells the Adventurer 5M and 5M Pro CoreXY printers, the AD5X multi-colour printer and the Creator series, plus resin and wax printers, to customers ranging from hobbyists to businesses.

Flashforge is mixed: the Adventurer 5M runs Klipper with published source and works in a LAN mode with open slicers, but the stock system is closed to modification and its app relies on the cloud.
Firmware and custom firmware ●●●●●
The Adventurer 5M series runs Klipper, and Flashforge published its Klipper source on GitHub under GPL-3.0 in January 2024. The stock system is not built to be modified: the community 'Klipper Mod', which adds Moonraker, Mainsail and Fluidd, is unofficial and warns that it may cost the warranty.
[1][2]
Local control and integrations ●●●●●
A LAN mode lets Orca-Flashforge send jobs on the local network, and USB printing works offline. The Flash Maker app needs internet and a Flashforge account and does not connect in LAN mode. Flashforge documents no local API for other software. Moonraker with Mainsail or Fluidd comes only with the community Klipper Mod, which is unofficial and warns that it may cost the warranty.
[3][4][2]
Third-party filament, slicers and parts ●●●●●
Third-party filament works; Orca-Flashforge is an open-source OrcaSlicer fork and OrcaSlicer itself supports Flashforge printers. Nozzles are sold as complete printer-specific assemblies.
[5][6][7]
Repairs and spare parts ●●●●●
Flashforge sells nozzle, extruder, filament-feeding and touchscreen assemblies for the Adventurer 5M, and its wiki has replacement guides, for example the AD5X extruder board.
[7][8]
Community and documentation ●●●●●
A wiki with manuals, FAQs and maintenance guides, and slicer and Klipper sources on GitHub; much of the advanced use comes from the community mod.
[3][1][2]
Pros
Long-established maker, founded in 2011.
LAN mode and USB printing work without the cloud.
Klipper source and an open-source slicer are published.
Common replacement assemblies are sold for the Adventurer 5M.
Cons
Stock firmware is not meant to be modified; deeper control needs an unofficial community mod.
The Flash Maker app needs internet and an account, and does not work in LAN mode.
Nozzles are sold as complete printer-specific assemblies.
Track record
January 2024: Flashforge published the Klipper source for the Adventurer 5M and 5M Pro on GitHub under GPL-3.0.
