Connect the Stratasys F370CR to SimplyPrint

Does the Stratasys F370CR 3D printer work with SimplyPrint, OctoPrint, Mainsail and Fluidd? Each way of connecting it, what it needs, and how to set it up.

  • The maker's cloud

    Possible, not built yet

Prints through Stratasys's GrabCAD Print. GrabCAD's SDK gives software vendors APIs to connect Stratasys printers to their systems; its first packages covered the F123 Series, F900 and Fortus 450mc. SimplyPrint could build support on it, but it isn't built yet. Source

  • SimplyPrint

    SimplyPrint Client

    Not compatible

Runs Stratasys's closed controller and takes jobs only through Stratasys's own software, such as GrabCAD Print. Source

  • Mainsail Fluidd

    Klipper (Moonraker)

    Not compatible

Runs Stratasys's closed controller and prints from Stratasys's own software; no Klipper or Moonraker is documented. Source

  • OctoPrint

    OctoPrint

    Directly, over USB

    Not compatible

Runs Stratasys's closed controller and takes jobs only through Stratasys's own software, such as GrabCAD Print; no OctoPrint or serial control is documented. Source

When to choose the Stratasys F370CR

Choose it over the F190CR for the bigger tray and four material bays. If you don't need carbon-fibre nylon, the F370 prints a wider range of standard materials.

Pros

  • Four material bays: two model, two support.
  • Hardened components and heads built for abrasive carbon-fibre materials.
  • Sealed filament bays and a fully heated build chamber.
  • Also prints ABS-M30, ASA and TPU 92A, with soluble support.

Cons

  • Not supported by SimplyPrint yet: support could be built on GrabCAD's SDK.
  • Runs Stratasys's closed controller with GrabCAD Print, so there is no OctoPrint or Klipper route.
  • Prints only Stratasys's own material spools.

Who it suits

  • Schools Can work

Enclosed and GREENGUARD certified with several materials, but its composites are more than most classrooms need.

  • Hobbyists Not a good fit

An industrial machine with proprietary materials and a price to match.

  • Businesses Great fit

Carbon-fibre parts that can replace machined metal tooling, with long unattended runs.

  • Print farms Can work

GrabCAD Print queues jobs across Stratasys printers, but SimplyPrint cannot manage it today.
