Does the IdeaFormer Giant 3D printer work with SimplyPrint, OctoPrint, Mainsail and Fluidd?
Each way of connecting it, what it needs, and how to set it up.
Doesn't ship with Klipper: it runs Klipper after you install it in place of its own firmware, a modification
What works with SimplyPrint
Connected through OctoPrint, SimplyPrint supports everything the IdeaFormer Giant lets other software do: the camera and AI failure detection, remote printing, temperature and movement control and AutoPrint. 3 features depend on how it's set up: the table says what each needs.

What slicer to use for the IdeaFormer Giant
None of the slicers in SimplyPrint's cloud has a ready-made profile for the IdeaFormer Giant, but it takes standard G-code: start from a similar printer's profile and set the bed size, height and nozzle to match.
We only list slicers you can use in the SimplyPrint cloud, so there may be others for the IdeaFormer Giant.
Cloud-Based Slicer for IdeaFormer Giant
All supported slicers - directly in your browser with SimplyPrint's online cloud slicer. No installation required. Slice your IdeaFormer Giant models from any device, anywhere in the world!
Automatic Profile Updates: Profiles are automatically checked and fetched from the slicer GitHub repositories every day, as well as from our own open-source community-driven slicer profile database. This ensures you always have access to the latest profiles.
Note: Other slicers, such as Simplify3D, ideaMaker, SuperSlicer and KISSlicer, aren't in our cloud, so we don't track their profiles. They may still work well with your IdeaFormer Giant: check the slicer's own documentation or forums for a profile. You can also contribute profiles to our open-source slicer profile database on GitHub.
The app for the IdeaFormer Giant
SimplyPrint works as the IdeaFormer Giant's app: on your phone and in any browser, with a slicer in the cloud.
There's no plate swapper or auto-ejection kit for the IdeaFormer Giant in SimplyPrint yet, but AutoPrint can still keep it printing: once the plate is clear, it starts the next job from your queue.
Ways to automate it
Your own ejection G-codeWrite the routine that clears your plate, and AutoPrint runs it after every print.

What filament can the IdeaFormer Giant print?
Filament compatibility for the IdeaFormer Giant: the materials it can handle, judged from its hotend, bed, chamber and enclosure.
Filament
Suitability
Notes
PLA
Great
The easiest filament to print. Works on almost any printer; a heated bed helps adhesion but is not required.
PETG
Great
Comfortably in range (PETG likes a ~230-250C hotend and a ~70-85C bed).
TPU & flexibles
With care
Possible, but a Bowden extruder makes flexibles harder - print slowly and prefer firmer (higher-shore) TPU.
ABS & ASA
With care
The bed is hot enough, but ABS and ASA warp without an enclosure, which is strongly recommended for clean prints.
Nylon (PA)
With care
Possible with care - an enclosure and very dry filament are essential.
Polycarbonate (PC)
Not ideal
Not recommended - PC needs very high hotend temps and an enclosed chamber.
Carbon-fiber & glass-filled
With care
Possible if you fit a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle - the abrasive fibers quickly wear a stock brass nozzle.
Tip: this is a general guide from the printer's specs - always check your filament's recommended settings. With SimplyPrint you can save a profile for each spool and track exactly what filament you have in stock.

IdeaFormer is a Chinese company in Zhuhai, founded in 2017 as a maker of 3D printer accessories, that has built belt printers since 2020. Its IR3 V2 prints onto an endless metal conveyor belt, so parts can be longer than the machine and batches run without anyone clearing the bed; it runs Klipper. It suits makers and small shops with long parts or repeat runs.

Klipper with a local web interface, OrcaSlicer support and a full parts list; the firmware comes as images rather than source, and documentation is thin.
Firmware and custom firmware ●●●●●
The IR3 V2 runs Klipper, and IdeaFormer publishes full system images and USB update files (latest dated 30 September 2026), but we found no source repository.
[4][2]
Local control and integrations ●●●●●
The IR3 V2 runs Klipper and prints from a USB drive, the local network or the internet, with remote control and a camera from a phone or computer; IdeaFormer mentions no cloud service or account. Its pages do not name the web interface or say whether a documented API such as Moonraker is open to other software, so that part is unconfirmed.
[3]
Third-party filament, slicers and parts ●●●●●
Any filament; OrcaSlicer ships an IR3 V2 profile next to IdeaFormer's own OrcaSlicer-based slicer, and IdeaFormer sells brass and hardened steel nozzles from 0.4 to 1.0 mm. The belt, rollers and print head are IR3-specific parts.
[7][3][5]
Repairs and spare parts ●●●●●
IdeaFormer sells about 30 IR3 V2 parts, including the belt, mainboard, motors, rollers, sensors, camera and print head boards. It publishes no CAD files.
[5]
Community and documentation ●●●●●
IdeaFormer's wiki says it is still under construction; there is a forum and an IR3 Facebook user group, and no public source code.
[6][1]
Pros
Prints parts longer than the machine and runs batches without anyone clearing the bed.
Klipper with the Fluidd web interface on your own network.
Full spare-parts list, from the belt to the mainboard.
Still getting firmware and slicer updates in 2026.
Cons
Belt printing needs its own slicing approach, and IdeaFormer's latest slicer release is an alpha.
No published firmware source, only system images.
Thin documentation: IdeaFormer's wiki says it is still under construction.
Track record
September 30, 2026: IdeaFormer posted new IR3 V2 system images, USB update files and an alpha slicer release (v2.1.4-alpha).
[4]
2020: IdeaFormer moved from accessories to complete printers with its first IR3 belt printer.
