When to choose the WonderMaker ZR Ultra
Choose the ZR Ultra when you print in several colours or materials and want less filament waste and shorter colour changes than a single-toolhead printer. The WonderMaker ZR is the simpler single-toolhead option with a slightly larger plate. We hold little on it and no SimplyPrint connection method is confirmed, so it is a risky pick if SimplyPrint control is your reason to buy.
Pros
- Four independent toolheads, each heated up to 300 °C, to mix colours, materials and nozzle sizes in one print (WonderMaker).
- 600 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s2 acceleration, with WonderMaker claiming a multi-colour print in 57 min 55 s against 1 h 34 min on another printer (WonderMaker's own test).
- Less purging on colour changes than a single-toolhead printer, which reduces waste (WonderMaker).
- Auto bed leveling, filament runout detection and power-loss recovery (WonderMaker).
- 5-inch touchscreen, built-in lighting and remote monitoring with an optional camera (WonderMaker).
Cons
- We have not confirmed how it connects to SimplyPrint: Klipper is unknown and OctoPrint is unlikely.
- The maker's page does not say whether it is enclosed, and our facts hold no enclosure value; we cannot say it suits ABS or classroom use.
- A camera is an optional extra, not built in (WonderMaker).
- No independent hands-on review found; the speed and waste claims are WonderMaker's own.
Who it suits
-
Schools Can work
Multi-colour printing is engaging for students, but enclosure is unknown and the SimplyPrint connection is unconfirmed.
-
Hobbyists Good fit
A fast multi-colour printer with independent toolheads, if you accept that it is new and unreviewed.
-
Businesses Can work
Useful for multi-material prototypes; the lack of independent reviews and unknown enclosure hold it back.
-
Print farms Not a good fit
Optional camera, unconfirmed SimplyPrint connection and a complex toolhead system make it a weak fleet unit.
