When to choose the Tiertime UP400 Pro
Choose the UP400 Pro when you need a large, enclosed machine with a heated chamber and a 400 °C extruder for engineering materials, with a built-in camera and filtered air. It is a high-end industrial printer, so a hobby user pays for capability they do not need; for ordinary PLA and PETG work a Bambu Lab P2S or H2D costs much less. Check connection first: we hold no working SimplyPrint method for it (Klipper is incompatible, OctoPrint unknown).
Pros
- Heated chamber up to 70 °C and a heated filament compartment for engineering materials (Tiertime).
- Extruder up to 400 °C, so it covers PC, nylon, PPS, carbon-fibre and flame-retardant filaments (Tiertime).
- 400 x 350 x 380 mm build volume, 600 mm/s travel speed and 20,000 mm/s² acceleration on six linear rails (Tiertime).
- Built-in camera, HEPA and activated-carbon filtering, and printing pauses when the front door opens (Tiertime).
- Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB and USB stick, 7-inch touchscreen and a Tiertime Print Queue (Tiertime).
Cons
- It is an industrial, higher-priced machine, so it is overkill for simple PLA and PETG printing.
- No confirmed SimplyPrint connection method in our facts: Klipper is incompatible and OctoPrint is unknown; it runs through Tiertime's UP Studio and Print Queue.
- No independent hands-on review of the UP400 Pro found.
- Uses its own slicing workflow (UP Studio; OrcaSlicer is also listed), which differs from Klipper-style setups.
Who it suits
-
Schools Can work
Enclosed, filtered and quiet, but it is expensive and we cannot confirm a SimplyPrint connection for student approvals.
-
Hobbyists Not a good fit
Priced and built for industrial materials, which most hobbyists will never use.
-
Businesses Great fit
Heated chamber, 400 °C extruder and a large plate suit functional prototypes and small-batch parts in engineering plastics.
-
Print farms Can work
Fast and enclosed with a camera, but no confirmed SimplyPrint connection and no plate-swap kit in our facts.
