When to choose the WonderMaker ZR
Choose the ZR when you want four-colour prints in a large 300 mm volume and plan to run it open or add the optional enclosure kit for ABS and ASA. The WonderMaker ZR Ultra uses four independent toolheads for less waste but a smaller 300 x 270 plate. We hold very little on this printer, and its connection to SimplyPrint is unconfirmed.
Pros
- Four-colour printing from one toolhead with a built-in wiper and filament detection (WonderMaker).
- 300 x 300 x 300 mm build volume, 300 mm/s print speed and a 300 °C hardened-steel hotend (WonderMaker).
- Auto-leveling and one-touch calibration for an easier start (WonderMaker).
- Full-metal frame, built-in lighting and handrails for lifting it (WonderMaker).
- Optional enclosure kit with an air filter for ABS and ASA (WonderMaker).
Cons
- We have not confirmed how it connects to SimplyPrint: Klipper is unknown and OctoPrint is unlikely.
- Open frame as sold; the enclosure is an extra, so ABS and ASA need it, and students can reach hot parts.
- No built-in camera, and Wi-Fi and USB are the only connections we list.
- It changes colour on one toolhead; WonderMaker positions the four toolheads of the ZR Ultra as the way to cut purge waste.
- No independent hands-on review found; the claims are WonderMaker's own.
Who it suits
-
Schools Can work
Easy set-up and auto-leveling help, but the open frame and an unconfirmed SimplyPrint connection are drawbacks; the enclosure kit helps.
-
Hobbyists Good fit
Four-colour printing in a large volume at an entry-level level of complexity.
-
Businesses Can work
Fine for colourful models and prototypes; limited by the open frame and the lack of independent reviews.
-
Print farms Not a good fit
No camera, no confirmed SimplyPrint connection and a single toolhead make it a poor fleet unit.
