PLA is the filament most people print most of the time: it prints at low temperatures, barely warps and needs no enclosure. With hundreds of PLA lines on sale, the best PLA filament is the one that prints reliably, comes in the colours you need and is easy to buy again. This guide ranks every PLA line in the Open Filament Database on exactly that, with something no other ranking has: what SimplyPrint accounts actually keep on the shelf and print with.
Our picks: the best PLA filament in 2026
One line per brand, ranked on the score below. Every reason under a filament is read from its data, and the score is out of 100.

What makes a PLA good
Consistency over the spec sheet
A spool that holds its diameter prints the same first layer every time. The spec sheet rarely says how consistent a filament is; how many people keep buying it says more, which is why usage carries the most weight here.
Colours you can buy again
If a part has to match last month's, the colour has to be on sale next month. A brand with many colours, sold by shops near you, is a safer choice than a one-off.
A profile in your slicer
A ready-made profile from the slicer's maker or the filament's maker saves the tuning. Each filament page lists which slicers have one, and SimplyPrint's online slicer has them built in.
How we choose
| What we weigh | Points |
|---|---|
| How many SimplyPrint accounts stock and print it | 30 |
| Sold by a shop we link to | 20 |
| Slicer profiles of its own | 15 |
| Colours to choose from | 15 |
| Prints at a low temperature | 10 |
| NFC or RFID tags on the maker's spools | 5 |
| Feeds through a multi-material unit | 5 |
What SimplyPrint accounts stock and print is counted together across accounts, as of 22 Oct 2026, and only shown from a few accounts up: no account can be told apart. Every other fact is the Open Filament Database's: a filament it has no temperatures for, or no colours, isn't in the running.
The score picks the filaments, one per brand, with one exception: our editor can put a filament first from hands-on experience, and that pick says so.
