The Bambu Lab AMS feeds up to four spools into one printer, and the filament in it matters more than in a single-spool printer: it has to slide through tubes, unload cleanly and fit the AMS. Bambu Lab's own filament is the seamless choice: the AMS reads its RFID tag, so material and colour set themselves. It's far from the only choice. This guide ranks the filament that works in an AMS on what SimplyPrint accounts actually print on Bambu Lab printers.

Our picks: the best filament for the Bambu Lab AMS in 2026

Rigid PLA, PETG, ABS and ASA, and TPU made for the AMS. Abrasive fibre-filled filament is left out. Our editor's pick leads; the rest are ranked on the score below.

Getting the most from an AMS

RFID, or SimplyPrint keeping track

The AMS reads Bambu Lab's tags by itself. For any other spool, SimplyPrint keeps track of what is in each slot and how much is left, and syncs with the AMS so you see every spool in one inventory.

Keep it dry

The AMS isn't sealed. Hygroscopic filament (PETG, and TPU, PA and PVA above all) picks up moisture in it: dry it, and store it with desiccant.

What SimplyPrint accounts stock and print is counted together across accounts, as of 22 Oct 2026, and only shown from a few accounts up: no account can be told apart. Every other fact is the Open Filament Database's: a filament it has no temperatures for, or no colours, isn't in the running.

The score picks the filaments, one per brand, with one exception: our editor can put a filament first from hands-on experience, and that pick says so.
