Setting up SimplyPrint on Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro

Welcome to the Anycubic Kobra setup guide for SimplyPrint!

In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to connect your Anycubic Kobra to SimplyPrint using Rinkhals, a custom firmware that enhances functionality while maintaining stock Anycubic features.

This guide is inspired by the excellent work of jbatonnet. For the latest updates and more detailed information, please visit the official Rinkhals GitHub repository.

Supported Printers

This guide currently supports the following Anycubic Kobra models:

• Kobra 3 (+ combo). Tested firmware versions: 2.3.8 - 2.3.8.9. Note: firmware version 2.3.7 & 2.3.7.1 are known to have some instabilities. Read more on the Rinkhals repository.
• Kobra 2 Pro with firmware 3.1.2.3 and motherboard Trigorilla Spe B v1.0.x. Note: firmware version 3.1.4 is known to be buggy. Read more on the Rinkhals repository.
• Kobra S1 (+ combo). Tested firmware versions: 2.4.8.3 - 2.5.0.6 - 2.5.1.6

Other newer Kobra printers are not yet supported, but very well might be at some point.

Is Your Printer Not Supported?

If your Anycubic Kobra printer is not listed above, it may not be compatible with Rinkhals yet. Check back later: Newer Kobra models may be supported in the future. For updates, visit the Rinkhals GitHub repository. Using another printer? It may still be compatible with SimplyPrint using serial printing (OctoPrint setup) or a regular Klipper setup. Installing Rinkhals Firmware and Integrating with SimplyPrint

1. Download Rinkhals:

• Head to the Rinkhals GitHub releases page.
• Download the latest release of Rinkhals that supports your printer and its firmware version.
• Important: Check the release notes; it will mention the supported printers and their firmware versions.
• If the latest release notes that support for your firmware is not supported, or has been removed, scroll further down and find an older release.

2. Prepare the USB Drive:

• Format a USB drive as FAT32.
• Not sure how to format a USB drive? Right-click the drive on Windows and select "Format". On macOS, use Disk Utility and select "Erase" with FAT32 as the format.
• Create a directory named aGVscF9zb3Nf on the USB drive.

3. Install Rinkhals on the Printer:

• Copy the update.swu file into the aGVscF9zb3Nf directory on the USB drive.
• Plug the USB drive into the Anycubic Kobra printer.
• You should hear a beep, indicating the printer detected the update file.
• Wait about 20 seconds while the printer prepares the update.
• A progress bar will appear on the screen.
• Success: If the progress bar turns green and you hear two beeps, the printer will reboot, and Rinkhals is successfully installed.
• Failure: If the progress bar turns red and you hear three beeps, the installation failed. However, the printer should still function normally. Check for more details in the aGVscF9zb3Nf/install.log file on the USB drive.
