Connect your Bambu Lab printer(s) to SimplyPrint

The Bambu Lab integration is currently in beta but has been tested by thousands of users for 2+ years, including large farms and universities using it in production.

How the integration works

The SimplyPrint bridge

Since Bambu Lab printers don't allow installing third-party software directly, we use a clever solution:

  • Our SimplyPrint Bambu Lab Client runs on a separate device on your network
  • This device acts as a "bridge" connecting your printer(s) to SimplyPrint
  • It's a wireless setup - no extra cables needed!
Important: The device running the client must remain turned on at all times to maintain the connection to your printers.

Connection modes: Cloud vs. LAN-only

Bambu Lab's third-party connection policy update

Bambu Lab has updated their firmware with new connectivity policies. For printers with the latest firmware, you'll need to use LAN-only mode with "Developer mode" enabled. If your printer has older firmware, you may still be able to use Cloud mode.

Common Questions

The SimplyPrint Bambu Lab Client software is a small application, made by us, that connects to your printers and bridges them to SimplyPrint. For printers in Cloud mode, the client can run anywhere. For printers in LAN-mode, the client must run on the same network as your printers.
No. Mobile devices cannot run the background processes required for the bridge. You need an actual computer (Raspberry Pi, Mac, Windows, Linux). However, once your bridge is set up, you can use these devices to control your printers via the SimplyPrint web app or mobile apps!
Yes. The bridge must be running whenever you want to start prints, monitor your printer remotely, receive notifications, or use any SimplyPrint features. If the bridge device is off or asleep, SimplyPrint cannot communicate with your printer.

💡 Tip: A Raspberry Pi uses very little electricity (about $5-10 per year) and is designed to run 24/7.
We recommend a dedicated device for the Bambu Lab Client. Video streaming can be resource-intensive and may cause issues if sharing resources with other applications.
Bambu Lab printers have a closed software ecosystem. The manufacturer doesn't allow third-party software to be installed on the printer itself. The bridge is our workaround to still support these popular printers. This is a manufacturer limitation, not a SimplyPrint limitation.
Yes! A single bridge device can connect to multiple Bambu Lab printers on the same network.
Use LAN-Only Mode. It's faster, more reliable, more private, and works with all firmware versions. Cloud Mode is only available on older firmware - Bambu Lab removed cloud API access in recent updates.
This is expected. Bambu Lab removed cloud API access in firmware updates released in late 2024. You must switch to LAN-Only Mode. There is no workaround - this is a change made by Bambu Lab, not SimplyPrint. See our Cloud vs LAN Mode guide for details.
No. Your prints still run locally on the printer after files are sent. If the client or internet goes down, your ongoing prints continue normally.
No, your Bambu Lab printers do not need to be connected to the internet; however they must be connected to a local network. However, the device that runs the SimplyPrint Bambu Lab Client must be connected to the internet to connect to the SimplyPrint servers.
