Put your print farm on autopilot with swapmod and SimplyPrint

The swapmod is a mod for the Bambu Lab A1 Mini printer, that seamlessly swap out one print plate for another when a print is finished, allowing the printer to keep going until it's out of things to print! It comes in two editions - a pre-built kit and a printable STL version - both fully supported in SimplyPrint.

Using swapmod with the AutoPrint SimplyPrint feature, you can keep your printer running unattended through a full stack of plates, without having to manually start prints or remove finished prints from the printer.

Using the SimplyPrint Print Queue with smart tagging system, Gcode analysis and material information, we match the right queue items with the right printer(s), allowing you to not have to worry about starting prints - ever

  • Integrated in the AutoPrint feature of SimplyPrint. Learn more here; AutoPrint feature details page
  • Swap out print plates automatically with the swapmod mod
  • Use the SimplyPrint print queue to automatically start prints when the printer is ready

How to use swapmod with SimplyPrint

1

Fit swapmod and connect the printer

Install the swapmod kit or printed STL on your Bambu A1 Mini, then connect the printer to SimplyPrint like any other. The mod comes as a pre-built kit or a printable DIY edition.

2

Enable AutoPrint and pick swapmod

Turn on AutoPrint for the printer and select swapmod as the bed-clearing method. Set a release temperature or wait time so the plate is cleared safely after each print.

3

Fill the queue and let it run

Add jobs to the SimplyPrint print queue. AutoPrint runs the swapmod swap to clear the bed and automatically starts the next matching print, working through a full stack of plates unattended.

Frequently asked questions

What does swapmod do on the Bambu A1 Mini?

The swapmod is a mechanical mod that swaps the entire print plate after each finished print, so a Bambu A1 Mini can keep printing unattended instead of stopping with a finished part on the bed.

Do I need extra hardware for automatic plate changing?

Yes. Automatic plate changing needs the swapmod itself, available as a pre-built kit or a printable DIY STL edition. Once fitted, SimplyPrint AutoPrint controls the swap and starts the next print.

How does SimplyPrint clear the bed between prints?

With AutoPrint enabled and swapmod selected as the bed-clearing method, SimplyPrint runs the swap to eject the finished plate, then starts the next matching job from your print queue automatically.

Does SimplyPrint pick the right print for each plate?

Yes. The print queue uses tags, G-code analysis and material info to match queued jobs to the right printer, so AutoPrint only starts prints the loaded filament and setup can handle.

Is there a discount on the swapmod kit?

Yes. The swapmod product page from swap-systems offers a SimplyPrint discount code at checkout, and AutoPrint plate changing is included in SimplyPrint with a supported plan.

About SimplyPrint integrations

Integration for SimplyPrint allows for applications to interact with your 3D printers, and your 3D printers to interact with other applications. This allows for endless possibilities, and we strongly believe that your 3D printer should be able to function as an IOT device, working together with any and all applications you can imagine!

This is why the team behind SimplyPrint work to provide official integrations for the most popular platforms, slicer and applications, while also allowing our users to create custom integrations using our API, or for approved third party vendors to create integrations to be used by all SimplyPrint users, using a "Log in with SimplyPrint" method (using the "OAuth2" method).

If you're a developer interested in creating an integration for SimplyPrint, please read our documentation on the subject.

If you're not a developer yourself, but would like to see an integration for a specific application, go check if it's already on our roadmap or suggestion list, and if not, feel free to suggest it!
