Setup for printers running Klipper
This setup is for 3D printers that run the popular Klipper firmware with Mainsail, Fluidd, or Moonraker installed.
Good news!
Most modern printers running Klipper work out-of-the-box with SimplyPrint. If your printer shipped with Klipper, you're likely all set!
How do I know if my printer runs Klipper?
If your printer has smart features like a touchscreen, web interface (Mainsail or Fluidd), or the manufacturer specifically mentions Klipper in the specifications, it's likely running Klipper.
Examples of printer brands and models that ship with Klipper:
- Voron — All Voron printers
- RatRig — All RatRig printers
- Sovol — SVO7 Series
- Biqu — Huraken
- Kingroon — KLP1, KP3S Pro V2
- FLSun — V400
- Prusa — Pro HT90
- & many other modern 3D printers
Does your printer use an older Makerbase mainboard?
A handful of printers ship with a Makerbase mainboard and a locked-down Moonraker that can't be updated. Only these exact models are affected — each has its own dedicated setup guide:
Not on the list? You're in the clear — continue with this guide. It works for the vast majority of Klipper printers. (If setup fails later and you start to suspect your printer is affected after all, come back here and try a dedicated guide.)
Requirements for this setup
Your Klipper printer needs:
Web Interface
Your printer must use Mainsail or Fluidd web interface, OR have Moonraker
installed standalone.
Moonraker Version
Your Moonraker version must be v0.8.0 or newer (released Feb 11, 2023). Most modern printers ship with a modern Moonraker version.
How to check your Moonraker version:
- In Mainsail/Fluidd: Go to Machine / Settings → System / Software updates → Update
Manager / Software Updates
- Or visit
http://yourprinter.local:7125 in your browser
- Note: Some manufacturers may remove access to version information in their
custom builds
- Caution: If your printer doesn't run stock Klipper, be careful about updating Moonraker -
some printers can't handle updates. Research your specific model before updating.
Official Moonraker
Must be the official version of Moonraker, not a manufacturer-modified "fork" where SimplyPrint
support may have been removed.
Don't meet these requirements?
If your Moonraker version is older than v0.8.0, the version doesn't show up at all,
or you have a manufacturer-modified Moonraker that doesn't support [simplyprint] -
and you have SSH access to your printer - you can use our
SSH setup script instead.
It installs a fresh Moonraker with SimplyPrint support alongside your existing setup.
Ready to continue?
If your printer meets these requirements, you can proceed to the next step. If you're unsure about the Moonraker version, continue anyway - we'll help you check it in the next step!
