The TAZ 8 Long Bed is the TAZ 8 with a plate stretched to 295 x 582 mm, for long parts. It is for businesses and labs that print long prototypes, jigs or batches of parts on one plate.
Marlin with 'USB Serial' listed as a connectivity option on the maker's spec table; like the TAZ Workhorse. No OctoPrint report for this model found.

Choose the Long Bed when your parts are long, or you want to fit many parts in one run, and you accept an open-frame bedslinger. It shares the TAZ 8's 290 °C hotend, BLTouch levelling, swappable tool heads and OctoPrint connection to SimplyPrint, and only the plate differs. We found no independent review of this variant. If your parts fit on 295 x 295 mm, the regular TAZ 8 is the simpler pick; for tall rather than long parts, the TAZ 8 XT.
メリット
295 x 582 mm plate, roughly twice the length of the standard TAZ 8 (our facts).
Same engineering-material range as the TAZ 8: nylon, PC, TPU, ABS, PETG and PLA at up to 290 °C (LulzBot TAZ 8 page).
Tool-free swapping of tool heads, and BLTouch automatic levelling with X-axis tramming (LulzBot TAZ 8 page).
Works with SimplyPrint through OctoPrint.
デメリット
Open frame with no enclosure, so hot parts are exposed and warping on long ABS or nylon prints is likely.
A large bed that is also long and heavy to move, which slows down fast prints on a bedslinger.
No built-in camera, and files go in by USB serial or SD card, so remote monitoring needs OctoPrint and a camera you add.
No independent review of this variant was found.
おすすめの対象
学校適していない
A big open-frame machine with an exposed moving bed takes up a lot of room and is not classroom-safe.
ホビーユーザー動作する場合あり
Unusually long prints are possible, but the price and open frame are hard to justify for hobby use.
企業適しています
Useful for long prototypes and fixtures in engineering materials, with the TAZ line's open documentation.
プリントファーム動作する場合あり
SimplyPrint can manage it through OctoPrint, but it is a large, costly machine with no built-in camera.

LulzBot is an American maker of open-source hardware 3D printers. The brand, which dates itself to 2011, was built up by Aleph Objects of Loveland, Colorado; after near-closure in 2019 it was bought by FAME 3D, which runs it from Fargo, North Dakota. LulzBot publishes its printer CAD, firmware and Cura LulzBot Edition slicer, and sells the TAZ and Mini printers to schools, labs and businesses that want a machine they can repair for years.

Open-source hardware and firmware, published CAD, a deep parts catalogue and no cloud. The cost is a higher price than mass-market printers.
ファームウェアとカスタムファームウェア ●●●●●
LulzBot publishes its Klipper, Moonraker, Mainsail and Marlin forks under the GPL-3.0 on GitHub, updated through 2026, and the Mini 3 runs Klipper. The Free Software Foundation lists the LulzBot Mini and TAZ 6 as Respects Your Freedom certified.

メリット
Open-source hardware and firmware, with CAD files published.
Spare parts still sold for printers from 2016 and earlier.
Runs locally (Klipper and Mainsail on the Mini 3), with no cloud account.
Made in the USA, with its own open-source Cura LulzBot Edition slicer.
デメリット
Expensive: the TAZ 8 listed at $5,395 and the Mini 3 at $1,695 in October 2026.
The company nearly closed in 2019, laying off about 80% of staff before FAME 3D bought it.
Current models are not in OrcaSlicer's built-in list; the main slicer is LulzBot's own Cura edition.
