It is a new pre-order machine, so wait for independent tests if reliability matters more than novelty. If you only print PLA and PETG, the M1D Essential (open frame) costs less; for proven multi-colour printing, a Bambu Lab printer with AMS is the safer choice.

Sovol is a Chinese 3D printer maker founded in 2018 that sells low-cost printers and publishes their designs.
