## About Voron

Voron is an open-source 3D printer project, not a company. The Voron Design team publishes complete CoreXY printer designs (CAD, bill of materials, manuals and Klipper configs) on GitHub under the GPLv3; you source the parts and build one yourself, or buy a kit from an independent vendor. Vorons suit people who want to build, understand and modify their own enclosed, fast printer.

- Firmware and custom firmware: 5/5. Every stock Voron runs Klipper (GPLv3), which builders install themselves following the Voron documentation; the printer configs ship in the GPL-3.0 design repositories.
- Local control and integrations: 5/5. The documented setup runs Klipper on a Raspberry Pi in the printer, controlled through Mainsail or Fluidd (both built on Moonraker) or OctoPrint in a browser on your own network; Moonraker and OctoPrint both document their APIs. There is no Voron cloud or account.
- Third-party filament, slicers and parts: 5/5. Any filament and any slicer: OrcaSlicer and Cura ship Voron profiles. The bill of materials uses off-the-shelf parts such as MGN linear rails, Misumi extrusions and common hotends and electronics.
- Repairs and spare parts: 5/5. Every part is either an off-the-shelf component on the published bill of materials and sourcing guide, or a printable part with STL and CAD files on GitHub, so any part can be replaced or remade.
- Community and documentation: 5/5. Large community on Discord, the Voron forum and Reddit, a community mods repository (VoronUsers, over 3,300 GitHub stars) and full public build documentation. Design changes are published as tagged GitHub releases with change notes.
- June 2026: Voron released Trident R2, with reworked stepper mounts, XY joints, front idlers and Z carriages; the release notes list what existing builds may want to update.
- April 2026: Voron released the Cascade, an open-source desktop CNC milling machine, with CAD and a bill of materials on GitHub.
- January 2023: Voron released the Voron 0.2, a revision of its small 120 mm printer; revision 0.2r1 followed in June 2023.
- May 2022: Voron published Trident r1, the first revision of the Trident.
- February 2022: Voron published V2.4r2, the current revision of the Voron 2.4.
- August 2021: Voron released the Trident, a CoreXY with a fixed gantry and a bed on three Z motors.
- May 2020: Voron released the Voron 2.4.
