## Connect the QIDI Q2C to SimplyPrint

| Way of connecting | Status | What you need | Notes |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| SimplyPrint | Expected to work | | Through Klipper (Moonraker) |
| Klipper (Moonraker) | Expected to work | Nothing extra: the printer runs Klipper as it ships | QIDI runs its own Klipper fork with Moonraker and Fluidd on its printers (QIDI_Q2 repo README); the Q2C shares the Q2's firmware repo (a Q2/Q2C macro PR there) and a third-party guide reports Fluidd and open SSH on the Q2C. Not yet confirmed on a Q2C itself. ([Source](https://github.com/QIDITECH/QIDI_Q2)); Expected to work like the QIDI Q2 |
| OctoPrint (Directly, over USB) | Not compatible | | Ships Klipper; OctoPrint only on top of it. ([Source](https://github.com/QIDITECH/QIDI_Q2)); Ships with Klipper: OctoPrint only runs on top of it, through the OctoKlipper plugin |

### What works with SimplyPrint

Connected through Klipper (Moonraker), SimplyPrint is expected to support most of what it offers on the QIDI Q2C: the camera and AI failure detection, remote printing, skipping objects, temperature and movement control and AutoPrint. Not yet in SimplyPrint through Klipper (Moonraker): download the file before the print starts.

## What slicer to use for the QIDI Q2C

None of the slicers in SimplyPrint's cloud has a ready-made profile for the QIDI Q2C, but it takes standard G-code: start from a similar printer's profile and set the bed size, height and nozzle to match.

- [PrusaSlicer](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/prusaslicer): No profile for the QIDI Q2C · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud
- [OrcaSlicer](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/orcaslicer): No profile for the QIDI Q2C · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud

We only list slicers you can use in the SimplyPrint cloud, so there may be others for the QIDI Q2C.

## The app for the QIDI Q2C

QIDI doesn't make an app for the QIDI Q2C. SimplyPrint works as its app: on your phone and in any browser, with a slicer in the cloud.

- An app for iPhone and Android, the same in any browser, and a slicer in the cloud.
- More than monitoring: a print queue, AI failure detection, AutoPrint and accounts for a team.
- Printers from many brands in one place, side by side.
- Hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, under the GDPR.

## Automate the QIDI Q2C

**Enclosed printers push their prints out.** The QIDI Q2C's bed only moves up and down inside its enclosure, so instead of swapping plates, a push-off routine lets the toolhead push the cooled print off the plate and out through its front door, which has to be open while it runs. Some printers won't print with the door open (the Prusa CORE One has a door sensor), so check yours first.

### Ways to automate it

- [Push prints off with the toolhead](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/push-off): On a CoreXY printer, a G-code routine can push the cooled print off the front of the plate before the next job starts.
- [Your own ejection G-code](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/custom): Write the routine that clears your plate, and AutoPrint runs it after every print.
- [A robot arm, or anything with an API](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/api): Tell SimplyPrint the plate is clear through the API or a webhook, from a robot arm or your own system.
- [Clear it by hand, keep the queue](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/manual-mode): AutoPrint waits for you to mark the plate clear, then starts the next job.

[How AutoPrint works](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint). AutoPrint comes with the Pro plan and up.

## When to choose the QIDI Q2C

Choose the Q2C for an enclosed, fast and affordable CoreXY for PLA, PETG and TPU. It has no actively heated chamber, so for nylon and PC the QIDI Q2 (with chamber heating) or the Plus5 suit better. The Combo adds the QIDI Box for multi-colour printing. If multi-colour is your main use, a Bambu Lab printer with an AMS is the more common route.

### Pros

- Enclosed with a full metal CoreXY frame, a 370 °C hardened bimetal hotend and a 120 °C bed (QIDI).
- Zero-offset load-cell levelling through the nozzle, a 1.5GT belt and input shaping for clean first layers and smooth walls (QIDI).
- Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), Ethernet and USB, and it is MET certified (QIDI).
- Multi-colour with the QIDI Box in the Combo, which can chain up to four boxes (QIDI).
- Runs Klipper, and is expected to work with SimplyPrint through Klipper (not yet confirmed).

### Cons

- No actively heated chamber, so engineering materials such as nylon and PC are not what it is made for.
- No AI camera, and the camera is optional; Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz only (QIDI).
- SimplyPrint compatibility is expected rather than confirmed.

### Who it suits

- Schools: Good fit. Enclosed and simple for PLA and PETG, and SimplyPrint can queue student prints for approval; keep it to PLA and PETG.
- Hobbyists: Great fit. A low-priced enclosed CoreXY with fast PLA and PETG printing and a multi-colour option.
- Businesses: Can work. Fine for PLA and PETG prototypes, but no heated chamber and no camera limit engineering use.
- Print farms: Can work. Low price per unit and Klipper, but no camera, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and unconfirmed SimplyPrint compatibility weigh on fleets.

## About QIDI

QIDI Tech is a Chinese 3D printer maker formed in 2014. It sells enclosed, Klipper-based CoreXY printers such as the compact Q2 and the larger Plus4 and Max4, and develops the open-source QIDI Studio slicer and the QIDI Link app.

- Founded: 2014
- Website: https://qidi3d.com

Openness: Mostly open (4.2 of 5)

QIDI is mostly open: its printers are standard Klipper machines you can run fully on the local network, with published source and plenty of spare parts. The phone app and the store-only privacy policy are the weak spots.

- Firmware and custom firmware (4 of 5): QIDI printers run QIDI's editions of Klipper and Moonraker with Fluidd. QIDI publishes them and per-model firmware packages on GitHub under GPL (for example the Q2 in January 2026 and the Max4 in August 2026) and answers issues there. <https://github.com/QIDITECH/QIDI_Q2> <https://github.com/QIDITECH/QIDI_MAX4> <https://github.com/QIDITECH/klipper>
- Local control and integrations (5 of 5): QIDI printers run Klipper and Moonraker with Fluidd on the printer, and QIDI Studio connects to them on the local network by IP without an account. QIDI publishes its Moonraker edition on GitHub, and other software can use Moonraker's documented API. Only the QIDI Link phone app needs an account and QIDI's cloud. <https://wiki.qidi3d.com/en/software/qidi-studio/fluidd> <https://wiki.qidi3d.com/en/app> <https://github.com/QIDITECH/moonraker> <https://moonraker.readthedocs.io/en/latest/external_api/introduction/>
- Third-party filament, slicers and parts (4 of 5): Third-party filament works; QIDI Studio is open source, and as Klipper and Moonraker printers they work with other Moonraker-compatible software. Hotends and nozzles are QIDI parts made per model. <https://github.com/QIDITECH/QIDIStudio> <https://github.com/QIDITECH/QIDI_Q2> <https://qidi3d.com/collections/accessories>
- Repairs and spare parts (4 of 5): QIDI's store lists many individual parts, including motherboards, eMMC modules, fans, extruders, hotends and Wi-Fi cards, and its wiki has replacement guides such as the Plus4 hotend. <https://qidi3d.com/collections/accessories> <https://wiki.qidi3d.com/en/PLUS4/Maintenance/Replacehotend>
- Data and privacy (3 of 5): Local use needs no account. QIDI Link requires one and says which server it uses (Aliyun in China, AWS elsewhere). The published privacy policy covers the online store, not the printers or the app. <https://wiki.qidi3d.com/en/app> <https://qidi3d.com/policies/privacy-policy>
- Community and documentation (4 of 5): Firmware is released and issues are taken on GitHub, and QIDI keeps a wiki per model with manuals, maintenance and troubleshooting guides. <https://github.com/QIDITECH/QIDI_Q2> <https://wiki.qidi3d.com/en/software/qidi-studio/fluidd>
