## Connect the Longer LK4 to SimplyPrint

| Way of connecting | Status | What you need | Notes |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| SimplyPrint | Expected to work | | Through OctoPrint |
| OctoPrint (Directly, over USB) | Expected to work | A Raspberry Pi running OctoPrint, plugged into the printer with a USB cable | Manual documents 'online printing' over a USB data cable from a computer (serial); like the LK4 Pro. ([Source](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bGR_w_zgVImEUQdg9F0RrpJWqQP94d84/view)); Expected to work like the Longer Lk4 Pro |
| Klipper (Moonraker) | Not compatible | | Ships Marlin 2.0 (LGT board); Klipper only after you install it. ([Source](https://www.longer.net/pages/download-lk4)); Doesn't ship with Klipper: it runs Klipper after you install it in place of its own firmware, a modification |

### What works with SimplyPrint

Connected through OctoPrint, SimplyPrint is expected to support everything the Longer LK4 lets other software do: the camera and AI failure detection, remote printing, temperature and movement control and AutoPrint. 3 features depend on how it's set up: the table says what each needs.

## What slicer to use for the Longer LK4

None of the slicers in SimplyPrint's cloud has a ready-made profile for the Longer LK4, but it takes standard G-code: start from a similar printer's profile and set the bed size, height and nozzle to match.

- [PrusaSlicer](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/prusaslicer): No profile for the Longer LK4 · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud
- [OrcaSlicer](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/orcaslicer): No profile for the Longer LK4 · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud
- [BambuStudio](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/bambustudio): No profile for the Longer LK4 · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud
- [ElegooSlicer](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/elegooslicer): No profile for the Longer LK4 · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud
- [CrealityPrint](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/crealityprint): No profile for the Longer LK4 · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud
- [Cura](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/cura): No profile for the Longer LK4 · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud
- [Kiri:Moto](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/kirimoto): No profile for the Longer LK4 · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud

We only list slicers you can use in the SimplyPrint cloud, so there may be others for the Longer LK4.

## The app for the Longer LK4

SimplyPrint works as the Longer LK4's app: on your phone and in any browser, with a slicer in the cloud.

- An app for iPhone and Android, the same in any browser, and a slicer in the cloud.
- More than monitoring: a print queue, AI failure detection, AutoPrint and accounts for a team.
- Printers from many brands in one place, side by side.
- Hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, under the GDPR.

## Automate the Longer LK4

**Bed slingers are the easiest to automate.** The Longer LK4 moves its bed back and forth, so its plate comes out to the front of the printer. That's what plate swappers like these use: they take the finished plate off and slide a fresh one on. Without a kit, a G-code routine can push cooled prints off with the toolhead. For example: [JobOx](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/jobox), [swapmod](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/swapmod).

### Ways to automate it

- [Push prints off with the toolhead](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/push-off): On a bed slinger, a G-code routine can sweep the cooled print off the bed before the next job starts.
- [Your own ejection G-code](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/custom): Write the routine that clears your plate, and AutoPrint runs it after every print.
- [A robot arm, or anything with an API](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/api): Tell SimplyPrint the plate is clear through the API or a webhook, from a robot arm or your own system.
- [Clear it by hand, keep the queue](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/manual-mode): AutoPrint waits for you to mark the plate clear, then starts the next job.

[How AutoPrint works](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint). AutoPrint comes with the Pro plan and up.

## What filament can the Longer LK4 print?

Filament compatibility for the Longer LK4: the materials Longer lists for it.

| Filament | Suitability | Notes |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| PLA | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| PETG | Great | Comfortably in range (PETG likes a ~230-250C hotend and a ~70-85C bed). |
| TPU & flexibles | With care | Possible, but a Bowden extruder makes flexibles harder - print slowly and prefer firmer (higher-shore) TPU. |
| ABS & ASA | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| Nylon (PA) | With care | Possible with care - an enclosure and very dry filament are essential. |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | Not ideal | Not recommended - PC needs very high hotend temps and an enclosed chamber. |
| Carbon-fiber & glass-filled | With care | Possible if you fit a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle - the abrasive fibers quickly wear a stock brass nozzle. |
