### What works with SimplyPrint

Connected through OctoPrint, SimplyPrint is expected to support everything the Geeetech M1S lets other software do: the camera and AI failure detection, remote printing, temperature and movement control and AutoPrint. 3 features depend on how it's set up: the table says what each needs.

## What slicer to use for the Geeetech M1S

None of the slicers in SimplyPrint's cloud has a ready-made profile for the Geeetech M1S, but it takes standard G-code: start from a similar printer's profile and set the bed size, height and nozzle to match.

- [PrusaSlicer](https://simplyprint.io/features/slicer/prusaslicer): No profile for the Geeetech M1S · Runs in the SimplyPrint cloud

## The app for the Geeetech M1S

Use SimplyPrint as the app for your Geeetech M1S: watch and run it from your phone or any browser, slice in the cloud, and keep it next to your other printers. It's free to start. Geeetech's own app is [Geeetech](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/geeetech/id6751800421).

- Printers from other brands: SimplyPrint yes; Geeetech: Only Geeetech printers
- An app for iPhone and Android, the same in any browser, and a slicer in the cloud.

## Automate the Geeetech M1S

### Ways to automate it

- [Your own ejection G-code](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/custom): Write the routine that clears your plate, and AutoPrint runs it after every print.
- [A robot arm, or anything with an API](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/api): Tell SimplyPrint the plate is clear through the API or a webhook, from a robot arm or your own system.
- [Clear it by hand, keep the queue](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/manual-mode): AutoPrint waits for you to mark the plate clear, then starts the next job.

[How AutoPrint works](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint). AutoPrint comes with the Pro plan and up.

## What filament can the Geeetech M1S print?

Filament compatibility for the Geeetech M1S: the materials Geeetech lists for it.

| Filament | Suitability | Notes |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| PLA | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| PETG | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| TPU & flexibles | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| ABS & ASA | Not ideal | Not recommended - the bed cannot reach the ~90-110C ABS and ASA need. |
| Nylon (PA) | Not ideal | Not recommended - nylon needs a hotter hotend (~250-270C) and ideally an enclosure. |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | Not ideal | Not recommended - PC needs very high hotend temps and an enclosed chamber. |
| Carbon-fiber & glass-filled | With care | Possible if you fit a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle - the abrasive fibers quickly wear a stock brass nozzle. |

## When to choose the Geeetech M1S

Choose the M1S for a very small, simple first printer for a child or a desk: Geeetech's page lists $245, a 2.4-inch colour screen, filament runout sensor and an app with a model library. It prints only small parts, and the price is high for a machine of this size; for $245 or less a larger beginner printer such as the Creality Ender-3 V3 Neo gives more room. We found no independent review, only two five-star comments on Geeetech's own page.

### Pros

- Compact and simple, aimed at kids and beginners, with a 2.4-inch colour screen and built-in LED lighting (Geeetech).
- Fully automatic 16-point levelling, a filament runout sensor and auto nozzle cleaning (Geeetech).
- Up to 250 mm/s with input shaping and pressure advance (Geeetech).
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth app control with a model library (Geeetech).
- Expected to work with SimplyPrint through OctoPrint.

### Cons

- A tiny build volume, 100 x 110 x 100 mm, so only small prints fit.
- Open frame, and best kept to PLA, PETG and TPU.
- Ships with a 0.5 kg spool holder, and a 1 kg holder has to be printed (Geeetech).
- No independent review, and the OctoPrint route is expected, not verified; Klipper is unlikely.

### Who it suits

- Schools: Can work. Small, simple and aimed at kids, and SimplyPrint can queue prints for approval via OctoPrint if confirmed, but it is open and tiny.
- Hobbyists: Can work. An easy first printer, though the volume is tiny and the price is high for it.
- Businesses: Not a good fit. Too small and limited in materials for business use.
- Print farms: Not a good fit. A tiny plate and no confirmed camera or enclosure make a fleet impractical.

Openness: Mostly open (3.6 of 5)

Mostly open, with a caveat: the older printers came with published Marlin source and schematics, while the current M1 line has closed firmware but still runs locally with any filament and open slicers.

- Firmware and custom firmware (3 of 5): Geeetech published Marlin-based firmware source and board schematics for its earlier printers on GitHub (Geeetech3D) and its download centre, including open-source files for the Mizar S updated until 2024. For the current M1 and M1S it offers firmware binaries only; we found no source. <https://github.com/Geeetech3D> <https://github.com/Geeetech3D/Mizar-S> <https://support.geeetech.com/download.html?download_id=43> <https://support.geeetech.com/download.html?download_id=68>
- Local control and integrations (4 of 5): The M1 Mini prints from a TF card or over USB with no account. The M1S adds Wi-Fi and the Geeetech app for printing from its model library 'anywhere', a remote feature that runs through Geeetech's app. Geeetech documents no network interface for other software, and for these models it offers only firmware binaries. <https://www.geeetech.com/products/m1-mini-faster-3d-printer> <https://www.geeetech.com/products/m1s> <https://support.geeetech.com/download.html?download_id=69>
- Third-party filament, slicers and parts (4 of 5): Any 1.75 mm filament (PLA and TPU on the M1), and Geeetech publishes Cura and OrcaSlicer profiles for it. Nozzles and hot-end parts for the M1 are Geeetech's own, sold in its store. <https://www.geeetech.com/products/m1-mini-faster-3d-printer> <https://support.geeetech.com/download.html?download_id=68> <https://support.geeetech.com/accessories-m1-printer-accessories-c-116_179.html>
- Repairs and spare parts (4 of 5): Geeetech sells M1 parts (hotbed, nozzles, hot-end components, PEI plate) and posts videos on replacing the nozzle and the motherboard; schematics for older boards are published. <https://support.geeetech.com/accessories-m1-printer-accessories-c-116_179.html> <https://support.geeetech.com/download.html?download_id=68> <https://support.geeetech.com/download.html?download_id=43>
- Community and documentation (3 of 5): A long-running wiki, a download centre with manuals, firmware, profiles and videos per model, and GitHub repositories. Independent coverage of the current M1 line is scarce. <https://wiki.geeetech.com/index.php/Main_Page> <https://support.geeetech.com/download.html> <https://github.com/Geeetech3D>

### Pros

- Inexpensive compact printers aimed at children and beginners.
- Any 1.75 mm filament, with Cura and OrcaSlicer profiles published.
- Spare nozzles, hotbeds and hot-end parts for the M1, plus repair videos.
- Downloads (manuals, firmware) kept online for printers going back many years.

### Cons

- No published firmware source for the current M1 and M1S.
- The M1S's remote printing runs through Geeetech's phone app; we found no privacy terms covering the app.
- Small 100 x 110 x 100 mm build volume on the M1.
- Little independent testing of the current models that we could find.
