## Automate the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon FarmLoop

**Enclosed printers push their prints out.** The ELEGOO Centauri Carbon's bed only moves up and down inside its enclosure, so instead of swapping plates, the toolhead can push the cooled print off the plate and out through the front. The front has to be open while it runs.

- [ELEGOO Centauri Carbon FarmLoop](https://simplyprint.io/compatibility/elegoo-centauri-carbon-farmloop): Pushes finished prints off the plate ([FarmLoop with AutoPrint](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/farmloop))

### Other ways to automate it

- [Push prints off with the toolhead](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/push-off): On a CoreXY printer, a G-code routine can push the cooled print off the front of the plate before the next job starts.
- [Your own ejection G-code](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/custom): Write the routine that clears your plate, and AutoPrint runs it after every print.
- [A robot arm, or anything with an API](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/api): Tell SimplyPrint the plate is clear through the API or a webhook, from a robot arm or your own system.
- [Clear it by hand, keep the queue](https://simplyprint.io/features/autoprint/manual-mode): AutoPrint waits for you to mark the plate clear, then starts the next job.

## What filament can the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon FarmLoop print?

Filament compatibility for the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon FarmLoop: the materials it can handle, judged from its hotend, bed, chamber and enclosure.

| Filament | Suitability | Notes |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| PLA | Great | The easiest filament to print. Works on almost any printer; a heated bed helps adhesion but is not required. |
| PETG | Great | Comfortably in range (PETG likes a ~230-250C hotend and a ~70-85C bed). |
| TPU & flexibles | Great | The direct-drive extruder feeds flexible filament well. Print slowly for clean results. |
| ABS & ASA | Great | Enclosed, with a hot enough hotend and bed: ABS and ASA print well. |
| Nylon (PA) | Good | Doable with care - dry the filament thoroughly, and an enclosure helps a lot. |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | Good | In range for PC. Dry the filament, print slowly, and use an enclosure for the best results. |
| Carbon-fiber & glass-filled | With care | Possible if you fit a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle - the abrasive fibers quickly wear a stock brass nozzle. |

### Best filament for the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon FarmLoop

## When to choose the ELEGOO Centauri Carbon FarmLoop

Choose the Centauri Carbon for a low-cost, fully enclosed CoreXY that still prints well: Tom's Hardware gave it Editor's Choice, and 3D Printing Industry measured 0.025 mm repeatability and clean PC-CF and ASA-CF prints. If you want multi-colour today, Aurora Tech found Elegoo's Canvas system not ready at launch, so a Bambu Lab A1, P1S or P2S with an AMS is the safer pick. If you want Klipper, the Creality K1C and Snapmaker U1 both run it. Elegoo now also sells the newer Centauri Carbon 2.

### Pros

- A fully enclosed CoreXY with a 320 degree C hotend, so ABS, ASA and carbon-fibre filaments print well (3D Printing Industry, Elegoo).
- Reviewers found it simple to set up and reliable: Tom's Hardware gave it Editor's Choice and Make: made it an everyday workhorse.
- Controlled over local Wi-Fi rather than cloud-only (Tom's Hardware).
- Handy extras: a side spool holder, a front USB port, a built-in camera and a 4.3-inch touchscreen.
- Works with SimplyPrint through the SimplyPrint Client, which adds the job queue Elegoo's slicer lacks.

### Cons

- No long-term reliability record yet (Tom's Hardware), and Elegoo has since launched the Centauri Carbon 2.
- Z offset sometimes needs a manual tweak (Aurora Tech), and ModBot hit ABS first-layer and PETG profile problems.
- Proprietary firmware with no bed-mesh options (ModBot), so it connects to SimplyPrint through the SimplyPrint Client rather than Klipper.
- The chamber lighting is weak (Tom's Hardware, ModBot).
- Elegoo's slicer has no job queue or skip-part feature (3D Printing Industry), and its Canvas multi-colour system was not ready at launch (Aurora Tech).

### Who it suits

- Schools: Good fit. Enclosed, low-cost and self-levelling, with silent stepper drivers according to Elegoo; there is no long-term record yet, and SimplyPrint adds queue approval.
- Hobbyists: Great fit. Fast, enclosed and cheap, and Tom's Hardware and Make: both recommend it as a first CoreXY.
- Businesses: Can work. Enclosed with a 320 degree C hotend and measured repeatability, but it is new with no long-term data and has proprietary firmware.
- Print farms: Can work. Low cost per machine and repeatable in tests, but no long-term reliability record and no AutoPrint kit variant is listed.

## About ELEGOO

ELEGOO is a Shenzhen company founded in 2015 that makes FDM and resin 3D printers, filament, laser engravers and STEM electronics kits. Its FDM range is the Centauri Carbon, an enclosed CoreXY printer, and the Neptune 4 series of open-frame Klipper printers, sold to hobbyists at budget to mid-range prices. DJI became a shareholder in 2025.

- Founded: 2015
- Headquarters: Shenzhen, China
- Ownership: Privately held through its parent, Shenzhen Zhinengpai (SmartPie) Technology; DJI became a shareholder in 2025
- Website: https://www.elegoo.com

Openness: Mostly open (3.8 of 5)

ELEGOO is fairly open in daily use: its printers work over the LAN with open slicers and any filament, and it now publishes firmware source. Source releases have followed community pressure rather than launch, and spare parts for the newest printers are thin in its store.

- Firmware and custom firmware (3 of 5): The Neptune 4 series runs Klipper. For the Centauri Carbon, which went on sale in February 2025, ELEGOO published its modified source on GitHub under GPL-3.0 in September 2025, saying it did so in response to user feedback. <https://www.elegoo.com/blogs/news/update-notice-of-centauri-series> <https://github.com/elegooofficial/CentauriCarbon> <https://www.elegoo.com/blogs/news/elegoo-to-open-pre-orders-for-centauri-carbon-on-february-17-bringing-reliable-corexy-3d-printing> <https://wiki.elegoo.com/en/machines/neptune/maintenance/neptune-4-series/networked-control-with-orcaslicer>
- Local control and integrations (5 of 5): ELEGOO's printers connect to its slicer on the local network by IP without an account. The Neptune 4 series serves Klipper's web interface and Moonraker, which OrcaSlicer reaches as an Octo/Klipper host. For the Centauri Carbon and Centauri Carbon 2, ELEGOO published Elegoo Link on GitHub in January 2026, an Apache-2.0 SDK for local discovery, status, file upload and print control. The Matrix phone app adds remote printing while the printer is online. <https://wiki.elegoo.com/en/centauri-carbon-2-combo/how-to-control-the-printer-via-lan> <https://wiki.elegoo.com/en/machines/neptune/maintenance/neptune-4-series/networked-control-with-orcaslicer> <https://github.com/elegooofficial/elegoo-link> <https://www.elegoo.com/blogs/news/print-smarter-with-one-tap-elegoo-matrix-app-introduces-one-click-remote-printing> <https://moonraker.readthedocs.io/en/latest/external_api/introduction/>
- Third-party filament, slicers and parts (4 of 5): Third-party filament works; ElegooSlicer is an open-source OrcaSlicer-based slicer, OrcaSlicer works with the Neptune 4, and ELEGOO published the data format of its RFID filament tags so others can use it. <https://github.com/elegooofficial/ElegooSlicer> <https://github.com/elegooofficial/ELEGOO-RFID-Tag-Guide> <https://wiki.elegoo.com/en/machines/neptune/maintenance/neptune-4-series/networked-control-with-orcaslicer>
- Repairs and spare parts (3 of 5): ELEGOO sells hotend, extruder and nozzle kits and some boards for the Neptune 4, and its wiki has many replacement guides, including the Centauri Carbon motherboard. The store's Centauri Carbon parts list is short (hotend kit, touchscreen, upper shell). <https://www.elegoo.com/collections/fdm-3d-printers-accessories> <https://www.elegoo.com/collections/accessories-for-centauri-series> <https://wiki.elegoo.com/en/Centauri-carbon/how-to-replace-the-motherboard>
- Data and privacy (3 of 5): LAN printing needs no account; the Matrix app and cloud do. The privacy policy names the companies responsible for personal data in each region (Shenzhen, Hong Kong, United States) but is written mainly for the online store. <https://www.elegoo.com/policies/privacy-policy> <https://wiki.elegoo.com/en/centauri-carbon-2-combo/how-to-control-the-printer-via-lan>
- Community and documentation (3 of 5): Active community and a wiki with guides per model; firmware and slicer sources are on GitHub, although the Centauri Carbon source came after users asked for it. <https://wiki.elegoo.com/en/Centauri-carbon/how-to-replace-the-motherboard> <https://github.com/elegooofficial/ElegooSlicer> <https://www.elegoo.com/blogs/news/update-notice-of-centauri-series>

### Pros
