## What filament can the BigRep ONE.5X print?

Filament compatibility for the BigRep ONE.5X: the materials BigRep lists for it.

| Filament | Suitability | Notes |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| PLA | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| PETG | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| TPU & flexibles | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |
| ABS & ASA | With care | Borderline - the bed runs a little cool and an enclosure is essential for ABS and ASA. |
| Nylon (PA) | Not ideal | Not recommended - nylon needs a hotter hotend (~250-270C) and ideally an enclosure. |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | Not ideal | Not recommended - PC needs very high hotend temps and an enclosed chamber. |
| Carbon-fiber & glass-filled | Great | On the maker's list of materials for this printer. |

## When to choose the BigRep ONE.5X

Choose the ONE.5X when the part itself is the problem: BigRep lists a 1005 x 1005 x 1005 mm volume, an open material system and German-built support, with training and service. It is an industrial purchase, with a weight of about 635 kg and a 208 to 240 V, 16 A supply, so it is not a printer to put in a classroom. We found no independent review of the ONE.5X, and BigRep gives no price, only a quote. For smaller engineering parts, an enclosed desktop printer such as the Qidi Max4 costs far less.

### Pros

- A 1005 x 1005 x 1005 mm build volume, so large parts print in one piece (BigRep).
- Dual PEX2 extruders in Single, Dual or Twin mode; Relay Mode takes over when a spool runs out, and Twin mode prints two identical parts at once (BigRep).
- An open material system that takes third-party filament, with BigRep profiles for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, nylon, TPU and soluble BVOH (BigRep).
- Automated calibration, adaptive bed levelling, input shaping and auto-sequential printing for non-stop production (BigRep).

### Cons

- Needs a lot of room and power: about 635 kg, 1848 x 2070 x 1668 mm and 208 to 240 V at 16 A (BigRep).
- No price published, only a quote, and 2.85 mm filament and diamond nozzles of 0.6 mm and up mean fine detail is not its job (BigRep).
- Not expected to connect through Klipper or OctoPrint, and our facts list no SimplyPrint Client route, so check before planning around SimplyPrint.
- No independent review found.

### Who it suits

- Schools: Not a good fit. Industrial in size, weight and power, though BigRep names research and education as uses; it is a lab or university investment, not a classroom printer.
- Hobbyists: Not a good fit. Far beyond a hobbyist's budget and space.
- Businesses: Good fit. Full-scale prototypes, tooling and moulds in one piece, with BigRep's service and an open material system, but no SimplyPrint connection is expected.
- Print farms: Not a good fit. Twin mode and auto-sequential printing help production, but each machine is huge and costly, and a SimplyPrint connection is not expected.
