{"id":315,"date":"2022-08-11T21:28:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T19:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/simplyprint.io\/blog\/?p=315"},"modified":"2023-05-29T23:07:32","modified_gmt":"2023-05-29T21:07:32","slug":"its-been-a-while-update-from-the-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/simplyprint.io\/blog\/its-been-a-while-update-from-the-team\/","title":{"rendered":"It's been a while - update from the team"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hello SimplyPrinters!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It's been a while since we posted an update on the development&nbsp;<em>(too long)<\/em>, so we figured it was due time to let you guys know what's going on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our silence doesn't mean the development has stalled - quite the opposite, actually!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What's coming?<br><\/strong>We've been hard at work for months to make some rather big changes to SimplyPrint, and while we don't wanna spoil everything just yet, here are a few of the things you can expect within the coming months, as well as what's been happening to us as a company;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We have&nbsp;<strong>completely rewritten the entire platform - going out of Beta<\/strong><br>Now, this is the primary reason this thing is taking a bit long - we pretty much started from scratch with a new platform... This is a choice we made for boring technical reasons, that stem from the fact that you guys have just given us <em>so much<\/em> awesome feedback since our launch and closed alpha, that the platform you're using today is&nbsp;<em>quite<\/em> different from what was originally intended&nbsp;<em>(but very much for the better!)<\/em>. So, the foundation isn't quite made for all the stuff that is now in the pipeline, so a rewrite of the platform ensures faster future development, so prepare for features to be spat out more often!<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Our team has grown<\/strong><br>We now have more programmers on the team, to help speed up the development!<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>New (rewritten) app is coming!<\/strong><br>We know our old app hasn't been bug-free... So, there's of course coming a new version along with the new platform!<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>(Some of the) changes &amp; new features;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Proper multi extruder support<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Official&nbsp;Klipper support! <\/strong>Using Mainsail, Fluidd or just Moonraker<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\"Farm mode\"<\/strong> for Print Queue on multi-\"Ready all\"&nbsp;<em>(more on this later)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>User-accessible <strong>API<\/strong> for automation&nbsp;<em>(sky's the limit; automatically start a print when you get an order in your webshop? Done!)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Much <\/em>faster printer updates <em>(before, we received updates every ~2 seconds from your printer; now it's pretty much instant). <\/em>This also means&nbsp;<em>much<\/em> faster starting of prints, as the printer picks it up right away, and you can follow the download process live<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Much<\/em> faster livestream! <em>(still testing, but hopefully 6x faster than the 1FPS from before!)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fullscreen livestream<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thumbnail images for GCODE files<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updated UI &amp; up to 500x increase in load time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More reliable job updates, even if your printer\/Pi is offline&nbsp;<em>(without internet)<\/em> when the print finishes; it's still picked up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completely new Bed Leveling helper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completely new&nbsp;<em>(and much better)<\/em> Filament Change helper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\"Compact\"<\/em> and&nbsp;<em>\"List\"<\/em> printer view&nbsp;<em>(for multiple printers)<\/em>; see up to 3x the amount of printers you could see before<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revamped setup guide&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revamped GCODE analysis; we can now catch more errors in your GCODE files, and prevent a bunch of nasty errors!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New control panel layout<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assign printer groups &amp; printer models to print queue jobs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>(For Enterprise;)<\/em> more user settings &amp; permissions. Reserve printers, limit users to specific printers, limit when they can use the printers &amp; more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Printer <em>\"Out of order\"<\/em> mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Easier assigning of filament<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Live Pi health updates&nbsp;<em>(CPU usage, memory usage, temperature)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revamped \"Statistics\" page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revamped \"Print jobs\" page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preheat and cooldown&nbsp;<em>multiple<\/em> printers at the same time&nbsp;<em>(by printer group, or all printers)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>gazillion<\/strong> bugfixes&nbsp;<em>(almost, probably)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And that's just some of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We promise it'll all be worth the wait! Much of what is mentioned here is inspired by&nbsp;<em>you&nbsp;<\/em>and your suggestions, so once again; a million thanks for that, and keep the feedback coming!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More info coming soon, and you'll be enjoying all the new development very soon!
