## Overview

Printerhive is a young, EU-built cloud tool for managing a fleet of 3D printers from one dashboard. It started life as one of the first ways to fully control Bambu Lab printers remotely, and it has grown a genuinely nice commerce angle on top: an embeddable quote calculator for your website and live order import from Shopify, WooCommerce and Upgates. For a small, mostly-Bambu farm that sells custom prints, it's a tidy, well-focused option, and we mean that.

But "manage your printers" and "run a print farm at scale" aren't the same job. A farm has to run whatever printers you already own, catch failures, keep printing unattended, and stay affordable as it grows past a couple of dozen machines. That's the ground SimplyPrint has been built on since 2020, across every major printer brand. Here's a fair, side-by-side look.

## Pros of Printerhive

Printerhive has real strengths, and they're worth being honest about:**

- Embeddable quote calculator:** their standout, a widget you embed on your own site so customers upload an STL, get an instant estimate, and send an inquiry to your dashboard. SimplyPrint doesn't have this yet.
- **Live shop-order import:** Shopify, WooCommerce and Upgates orders flow into a production workflow (with a manual review step). SimplyPrint's direct storefront link is still in closed beta.
- **Bambu heritage:** they were one of the first to fully control Bambu Lab printers remotely, with solid AMS auto-matching.

## Cons of Printerhive

Where Printerhive tends to fall short for a working farm:**

- Narrow printer support:** Bambu and Klipper plus **basic** Prusa only; **no OctoPrint, no Marlin-over-USB and no Duet**, and every printer needs a Raspberry Pi client on the network.
- **No AI detection:** no AI failure detection and no AI bed-check.
- **No interactive slicer:** slicing is headless only (prep your plates in desktop OrcaSlicer first); there's no in-browser build-plate editor.
- **Hard ceiling:** the top plan caps at **30 printers and 4 users** for €100/mo, with no volume discount, no annual discount and "beta" pricing set to rise.
- **Missing farm tools:** no native mobile apps, no NFC filament tags, no maintenance system, no enterprise SSO and no Education plan.
- **Very new and small:** founded in 2024 by a two-person team, with near-zero independent reviews and no published DPA or uptime SLA yet.
